KS: Final editing
Todays lesson went well in terms of editing, making finishing touches and neatening frame sizes, lengths of footage and title transitions. We reviewed our film opening and made suitable changes before our final export tommorow, such as changing our font to a deep red colour to heavily contrast the black and white background, and to match the traditional horror/thriller colour conventions. We made sure no portrait still images were left in the film and added appropriate dissolve and fade transitions to our titles. Although we encountered an issue yesterday with parts of our footage being overwritten by new footage due to them having the same file names, leaving our 2 minute filming opening in parts, we quickly and efficiently solved this by reentering these pieces of footage from our exported film, and by re shooting some necessary shots. The final outcome is very successful and has greatly improved our piece by making the narrative more clear and obvious. It has been suggested that our sound is a little repetitive; having a heart beat as our main rhythm throughout the piece means it looses its punchiness and impact. Therefore we have edited it so it drowns out at parts, then re enters, in which we will review the changes tomorrow morning, deciding on the most appropriate soundtrack before exporting.
